Pieropan Calvarino is without a doubt one of Italy’s most exceptional whites

On April 27th, Andrea and Dario Pieropan hosted me for what was a memorable vertical tasting of the their Soave Classico Calvarino. While vertical tastings are always fascinating, such tastings of older Italian whites are rare, and it proved what I’ve been writing for years after tasting older vintages of other exceptional Italian whites: That the very best Italian white wines are world class offerings, with depth, complexity and aging potential.
